COMMON GROUND: Cougars for Christ meets every Thursday night for an incredible time of fun, friendship, conversation, worship, food, Bible study, and devotion. It's a simple and laid back time, yet passionate and hopefully encouraging as well. Regardless of where you come from, what you believe, or where you've been, you're alwasy welcome at Common Ground. So come on out, be yourself, and see what we're all about.
Common Ground is EVERY THURSDAY in the Columbus Rroom of the Davidson Student Center from 6:33pm – 8:30pm.
SMALL GROUPS: Small groups are between 6 and 15 students who meet together off campus on a weekly basis. This is a place where students can learn, grow, have fun, and share their lives together. Here you can be honest about struggles, heartaches, doubts, worries, joys, and triumphs with others going through life and college right along with you. Usually each group will decide on a book of the Bible or a book to study and discuss each week.
SERVICE: Serving the homeless, the suffering, and hte marginalized within our community is something that is especially dear to us. We live in a broken world and college students are just as capable of helping others who are in need; and that is just what we want to do! We believe strongly in doing all we can to be a positive force for good in this world and continuing the mission Christ set in motion. We are involved in several service opportunities, from volunteering weekly at Damascus Way, a shelter for women and children, to working closely with the Homeless Resource Network in helping the homeless. We are always looking for new ways to both engage and serve the community around us and we would love for you to help us do so!
CLOCKTOWER JAM: At least once a year we gather at the CSU Clocktower and let the campus know what and Who we're all about. We generally have live bands, food, games, volleyball, frisbee, and other fun activities and contests! Come and hang out with us when you can, in between classes or whenever you have the time. This is always a fun time of fellowship and it's yet another awesome way of engaging the campus and earning the right to be heard.
RETREATS: Each semester we will make time to retreat from everyday “normalcy” for spiritual, emotional and physical renewal. These weekends are often some of the most memorable, fun, and powerful experiences each semester at Cougars for Christ and a great time to get to know everyone in the group. We frequent both the Woodland Christian Camp in Temple, GA and other beautiful facilities within a short driving distance. These retreat centers provide a wonderful environment in which to commune together and with God.
GIRLS AND GUYS RETREATS: At least once a year we have both a Guys only and a Girls Only retreat designed to get away from school, work, deadlines, due dates, homework, pressures, and stress for a weekend to enjoy the company of our friends while immersing ourselves in fellowship, Bible study, and just an overall fun and good time. These retreats are always a whole lot of fun!
UNIFY: Campus organizations are encouraged to host a "Signature Event" each year on campus. This is our first year to host Unify, a campus-wide worship event that will include speakers, praise and worship, drama skits, comedy, scripture reading, prayer, and so much more.
DRAMA/DANCE: Last year we began looking for new ways to creatively worship God and share his love with others! Through several gifted and talented young students we have begun performing drama skits and dances that are both worshipful and incredibly moving. If you have a passion for dance or drama, this is definitely a part of our ministry you'll want to be involved in.
SOCIAL EVENTS: At C4C we ALWAYS love to have a great time! Common Ground is one of our most important times together, but it is what we do throughout the week that truly makes us family. Whther we're meeting for lunch, grabbing coffee, going to the movies or the park, watching tv, playing video games, or participating in Homecoming week, there's no doubt that there will be plenty to do and lots of fun to be had!
INTRAMURALS: Each semester Cougars for Christ always gets involved with campus intramural sports. Every fall we put together a soccer team and we usually try to play ultimate frisbee and another sport in the Spring as well. Beyond that, we are often getting together to play frisbee or football on the weekends and we frequently get together for a rousing game of soccer as well. If athletics are your thing, you'll find a niche for that here at C4C as well!
MISSIONS: Throughout each school year we are always looking for ways to help others in need and reach out to those around us. Oftentimes we have opportunities to serve outside our community and on several occassions we have driven down to New Orleans to serve and minister to Katrina victims and aid in hurricane disaster relief. Mission trips on a larger scale will continue to be a huge part of Cougars for Christ and we are always looking for ways to use what God has blessed us with to serve and give back to others.
GULF COAST GETAWAY: Gulf Coast Getaway is more than just a conference - it's a body of people undergoing radical transformation as we seek the ways of God... Each January at Edgewater Beach Resort in Panama City, FL we take down a group for an incredible weekend of growth, worship, praise, and Spirit-led fellowship. With over 2000 Christian college students in attendence each year, it can be an incredibly moving and powerful experience. This weekend is sure to be rewarding in almost every way and certainly is not something you want to miss out on!
